BIOGRAPHY

DSC07360-Enhanced-NR.jpg

Vu Hoang is a passionate storyteller whose work spans films, sports featurettes, commercials, and music videos. He directed the award-winning Western short Marty: A Wild West Neverland (2015), led a Vimeo Staff Pick music video, and created an Aeropostale commercial that aired in Times Square. His most personal project, Newspapers (2024), a short inspired by his Vietnamese immigrant upbringing, premiered at LA Shorts, was nominated for Best Short and Best Actor at the Viet Film Festival, and won Best Drama at the inaugural Great Film Festival.

As a Two-Time Sports Emmy-winning editor, Vu has crafted nationally-aired sports documentaries, teasers, promos, and sizzles. Outside of sports, his editing credits include indie films, commercials, and music videos. His strong post-production background shapes his collaborative, story-first approach as a director.

Vu has a deep love for filmmaking and thrives in creative environments where collaboration is key. Whether directing, editing, or both, he’s drawn to projects of all kinds—from passion-fueled indies to fast-turnaround commercial work. What drives him is the challenge of telling a compelling story and the joy of working closely with others to bring that story to life.
