Vu Hoang grew up in Milpitas, CA and is a self taught filmmaker who got his start at the age of 15. He started with editing video game highlight reels and later began creating videos for his class projects using his parents MiniDV camera.
After winning 1st Place at his high school film festival, he realized how much he enjoyed film-making and decided to turn it into a career. He majored in Film/TV at De Anza College and transferred to UC San Diego where he continued to focus on creating short films for class and outside of class.
In 2011 he graduated from UCSD with a Visual Arts Media BA.
Vu currently resides in Los Angeles where he began his professional career in directing and editing music videos and commercials. His work has aired on Times Square, featured as a Vimeo Staff Pick, and has generated over hundreds of thousands of views on the internet. He also a video editor for Fox Sports, and many of his edited sports pieces have aired national TV. After running a vigorous, but successful Kickstarter campaign for his short film “Marty: A Wild West Neverland” marks the first narrative film since his college days and currently his most ambitious passion project.
